OUR PARTNERS
Challon's Coombe Farm
Challon’s Combe Farm in Kingsbridge, South Devon, is family run and one of only a handful of Pasture For Life dairy farms in the UK and renowned for their exceptional dairy products. Established in 1958 and organic since 1999, the cows are 100% pasture fed.
As well as stocking their delicious milk and cream, we also offer their exceptional outdoor-reared organic pork from happy pigs who play an integral part in there farming rotation. The pigs are used to disrupt old herbal leys and add fertility to the land before reseeding. In addition, they consume the surplus dairy products to both eliminate waste and reduce the reliance on bought in feed – it’s a win win.
Lesquite Organics
Tom and Nicola Tolputt run Lesquite Organics, a 600 acre mixed organic farm in Cornwall which is predominantly focused on beef and arable. Certified organic since 1999, they are passionate advocates of regenerative farming for all aspects of health – for the soil, for people and for the environment.
They are the proud recipients of the FWAG Otter Trophy, awarded for displaying a long term commitment to wildlife conservation and sustainable farming. Tom is also an agricultural consultant and a pioneer in understanding soil microbiology. The Tolputt’s farm is one of the few where every field inspires us with the quality and vibrancy of what is growing. They are a natural and joyful choice for us when sourcing beef and we are excited that they share our enthusiasm for heritage wheat and grain production.
Peter Irish Beef
Peter Irish, based about 20 minutes away from us over the Somerset border, comes from a long line of dairy farmers. In recent years he adapted his business and changed direction from a high input organic system to a lower input version.
Selling his herd of 200 cows that were supplying organic milk to Waitrose, Peter now has a suckler herd of 35 pedigree Red Poll cattle, a relatively new beef breed derived from a cross between the Norfolk Red and Suffolk Dun. He chose the breed because of their hardy traditional background and their wonderful placid nature. Peter supplies us with all of his organic steers for our butchery
Essebeare Farm
Essebeare Farm, listed in the Doomsday Book, sits on ancient moor ground nestled in a hidden and beautiful North Devon valley. Native Red Ruby cattle and hardy Lleyn sheep roam the 90ha Pasture For Life certified organic farm which focuses on rotational grazing, hedge and bank restoration and agroforestry.
Farming Partner Oliver Walker began farming around the same time as we established Haye and echoes our commitment and passion for the reinvention of our food systems. As well as supplying us with incredible beef and lamb, we share refreshing and endless conversations about our values, visions, successes and failures - which sustain us both in our pockets of the southwest!
